Academic project: create an expressive calendar based on The Pixies’ first 5 albums using V23’s style and responsive design process as inspiration

To begin this project, I started by listening to The Pixies’ first five albums. I wrote down/sketched what each song made me think of or visualize as I listened. The process of creating these relied on how I would visualize and create my ideas. After many photoshoots and trial and error, I landed on what you can see above. Going into the Pixie’s music with an open mind and not looking up online what the meaning of the songs is was important for this project. I needed to create my own unique, original visuals based on my ideas. V23, a design studio founded by Vaughn Oliver, relied on a responsive design style, basing their work on the first idea they come up with. Rather than critiquing and altering ideas, this design style relies on sticking with your very first idea and figuring out how to create it. The criteria for this project were to include the month and days on each calendar and take original photography.
